Feeling Five!

Dear Lauren,

You are five. We rang five in with style and you had you very first birthday party with your friends. You planned your party for months and when it was over you immediately began planning your next one. You have a joy for life and a passion for parties. I'm not sure what your future holds, but I'm confident there will be lots of celebrating.

You are starting to say some very funny things like " Mom... are you thinking what I'm thinking?" and "Daddy, let's do team work!"

You told me that being five means you can do backflips and cartwheels, but you don't feel five yet so those things aren't happening.

You're in SK now and love everything about school except being asked to sit down and listen. You seem to be very close with a girl in your class named Ani and when the two of you are together you are silly and loud. Ani recently taught you what 'boobies' are. Great.

You hug and kiss your sister every morning when we drop you off at school and you tell her that you're going to miss her while she is away. You currently have a love affair going on with unicorns and still have a very active imagination.

You tell everyone you meet about your dog Molly the Beagle. You miss George every day even though you were only three when he left us.

Lauren, dad and I couldn't be more proud of you even when you're getting in to trouble. We know your stubbornness and confidence will mean great things for you one day.

You're five. Now stop aging!

Love you always,

Mamma

Three is the New Two

Brier,

Somehow you have recently turned three. Three. THREE?! How on earth did that happen? I had a very hard time with this birthday. You are no longer my baby. Truthfully, you haven't been a baby for quite some time now. You really made the most of your twos. You were a breeze to potty training, your vocabulary and language skills are amazing and for the most part you are a delightful little person. Do not misunderstand, you're no push over. We all know when you aren't happy or you haven't gotten what you want and God forbid a stranger look at you the wrong way. When we are out in public and someone has the nerve to look your way you have no problem telling me " Mom that person is looking at me! They looked at me!" It's not uncomfortable at all.

For your birthday this year we asked you what you wanted to do - visit to Zoo? Aquarium? Anything. Your choice? "To go to a west-want and eat strawberry cake."  Please never lose your excitement for the little things.

Brier, dad and I could not be more proud of you. We love every moment of being your parents. Keep being you, never change, but please stop getting older.

XO
Mamma

Pa corn

Brier is currently obsessed with "pa corn".

Morning noon and night the kid demands pa corn. As soon as I get her out of bed in the morning her first request? Milk, then pa corn.

We should not be catering to the request (demand) as much as we do, but she is just so damn cute we can't say no!

How is this possible?

Lauren

Yes, I am indeed a month late with your birthday blog post but in my defense you think everyday is your birthday so in some ways I'm not behind at all.

You. Are. Four.

How did that happen?

You started school 2 months ago and most days it is wonderful. You LOVE school. You love your 'teachers' Mrs Mayer, Carleigh and Charlene. You love your friends and you love being a big girl and going to big girl school. What you are not so great at is sitting down for circle time although you often instruct Brier to sit "Criss Cross Applesauce, hands in your lap, eyes froward and listening ears on" so I know you know the expectation. You're not fooling anyone.

You will suddenly break in to songs like the Frozen soundtrack, a song about five little pumpkins complete with hand actions or Down By The Bay and when it's time for the rhyme you yell "Mommy... TALK!". You use the words 'actually' and 'remember' in ways that make your parents feel like you're mocking us. You like to torment Brier, but also can be very affectionate toward her which will likely continue for the rest of your lives of you are anything like my sister and I.

Your favorite people are your grandma(s) and grandpa(s) and you want to see them as much as possible.

You are always hungry. Except at dinner time. This particularly drives your father insane.

You tell people that you take Karate. In fact you will bow with your hands together and high-kick in a way that makes them think that you actually do take Karate. You do not take Karate.

You are perfect and perfectly imperfect at the same time.

You. Are. Four.

How did that happen?

Darkness

We continue to struggle with Lauren and potty training.

It has developed in to a medical issue which is not easily cured.

This by far has been my darkest time as a parent. I know it could be worse. We have healthy, happy children, but that doesn't make it easier. School starts in 3 weeks and I am panicked. How are we going to get through this? How will the other kids at school treat her? Will they make fun of her the rest of her life? Will her teacher be understanding? I'm nervous, worried, and so over it. If I never see or talk about poop again it will be too soon.

Its not her fault. Its probably ours, but it needs to get resolved.

Done with one

Dear Brier,

You turned two on Friday. We took you camping - something that I continue to regret. But I forgive you ;)

You are developing into a feisty, funny, chatterbox. You are speaking in full sentences and starting to potty train. You win everyone you meet over with your grin.

Much to my surprise you love meat and vegetables. You happily chomp on asparagus and green beans, but bacon is really your true passion.

You are a fearless swimmer and without hesitation jump off of the side of the pool in to the water.

Please don't ever lose your spark.

Love you to the moon.

XO MOM
